Absolutely true. I’m currently looking for internship, and I pretty much have to be paid otherwise I can’t go. It should work itself out, since many do pay interns in my industry (advertising/graphic design) and actually put you to work, but it’s just annoying when you stumble upon a company that does great stuff and seems like a place you’d like to go to and then find out they aren’t willing to pay. I think ultimately those companies get what they deserve though, in addition to losing to their paying competition who are more likely to get those really talented people.
