I don’t know how well-known (or not) Brio toys are outside of Sweden, but their wooden toy trains (along with this dachshund they’ve been making since 1953 and a few others) are pretty much considered design classics here. Although most of their train sets these days are a bit more elaborate than they once were (much like Lego), I did recently spot this this freight express set that looks so lovely in all its minimalistic glory. I may be many years past its recommended age, but I’m going to have to get that for my bookshelf.
